2008 Dodge Dakota Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Cover on a 3.7L Engine on 2008 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before installing the timing chain cover, wash both the timing chain cover and the block surface with rubbing alcohol only, do not use oil or tools that could damage the parts. A Mopar(R) Engine RTV replacement is needed in this engine, replacing the original anaerobic sealer. See if there is any damage on the shoulder bolts or o-rings and change them if that is the case. Make a 3 to 4 mm thick ring of Mopar(R) Engine RTV sealer around the front cover, set it in place and install the fasteners in turn until they reach 58 Nm (43 ft. lbs.). After that, attach the crankshaft damper, A/C compressor, generator and drive belt tensioner. You should then put the radiator upper and lower hoses in place, along with the fan and both heater hoses. In the end, fill the cooling system and then attach the negative battery connector.
