Maintaining the proper location of the left/right sensors matters, as the Powertrain Control Module identifies their placements. Take the intake manifold off in the beginning of the process. After that, pull the knock sensor dual pigtail harness away from the engine wiring harness found at the rear of the engine. Two sensor mounting bolts must be removed and no adhesive or sealant should ever be applied to the small foam pieces on the threads that hold the bolts in assembly. Quit with unplugging the sensors from the car's engine.
