2009 Dodge Durango Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Knock Sensor on a 3.7L Engine on 2009 Dodge Durango?
A: First, locate the knock sensor on the left side using its tag and the larger bolt, then make sure the PCM knows the right position for the sensors so you don't mix them up. First, clean the places in the cylinder block where the sensors are supposed to fit, then install the sensors. Over- or under-tightening the sensor bolts may harm the performance of the knock sensor and spark, so always use the proper torque of 15 +/- 2 ft.lbs. (20 Nm) (176 in.lbs) when fastening with 8mm bolts. Please pay attention that the foam on the bolts is not for use with any special adhesive, sealant or thread locking type of product once at full assembly. Screw in the last mounting bolts before routing the knock sensor wiring harness to the engine harness at the back of the intake manifold and then install the intake manifold.
