2007 Dodge Durango Knock Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Knock Sensor on a 3.7L Engine on 2007 Dodge Durango?
A: The first step is to tell which sensor is left, by looking for its label (LEFT) and its larger bolt head, so that there won't be any mix-up during installation. Fully clean the knock sensor mounting areas first, then put the sensors into the cylinder block. Prevent damage to the knock sensor or spark control by avoiding very tight or loose sensor mounting bolts; apply 15 ± 2 ft. lbs. (20 Nm) (176 in. lbs) torque which isn't a lot for a 8 mm bolt. Remember that the foam strip aids in assembling; it should not be considered a sealant, so do not glue or add any special threads to the bolts. Tighten the mounting bolts after that, attach the knock sensor wiring harness to the rear of the intake manifold and then fit the intake manifold in place.
