2008 Dodge Nitro Timing Cover Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Timing Cover on a 3.7L Engine on 2008 Dodge Nitro?
A: Before installing the timing cover, wash the cover and block with alcohol instead of oil or rough tools to make sure the surface is not damaged. In place of the OEM anerobic sealer, the engine requires Mopar(R) Grey Engine RTV from the manufacturer. Inspect the o-rings of the water passage system and exchange them if they are broken. Use 3 to 4mm worth of Mopar(R) engine sealer Grey on the bevel of the front cover. Place the cover on the tank and tighten the flange head fasteners as indicated to the appropriate torque. After that, install the crankshaft damper, A/C compressor, generator and accessory drive belt tensioner assembly. Afterward, put the upper and lower radiator hoses in place, along with both heater hoses and the electric fan shroud with its viscous fan drive. After that, pour in the coolant and connect the negative cable to the battery.
