2008 Dodge Ram 1500 A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How Can Proper Maintenance of the A/C Hose Prevent System Malfunction and Compressor Damage on 2008 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Always ensure that the refrigerant system has the correct oil level while servicing the A/C, to protect the system and stop any malfunctions in the compressor. Should several A/C components be changed, use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to see how much oil to add. Replacing the refrigerant line seals and gaskets is necessary each time one of these lines is opened to protect against leaks. Place the suction line of the A/C into the engine compartment and then pull off any tape or plugs from the open suction fitting at both ends. First, cleanly grease a fresh O-ring seal with R-134a refrigerant oil and then put it on with a new gasket at the carburetor end of the suction line fitting, always using the suggested O-ring and oil for this refrigerant system. After that, install the A/C suction line on the A/C compressor, fasten it with the nut and tighten the nut to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Remove all tape or plugs from the fitting and the accumulator tube, lubricate the new rubber O-rings seals with clean oil and fit them onto the accumulator tube, only using those supplied with the refrigeration oil kit. Join the A/C suction line with the spring-lock connector on the accumulator and use the secondary retaining clip. After that, put the air filter housing cover in place and join the negative battery cable. With the vacuum system on, remove the remaining refrigerant, fill the refrigerant oil up to the correct level and add more refrigerant as required.
