2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Service a Front Crankshaft Seal on 2008 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Before handling the front crankshaft seal, remove the negative battery cable. Following that, lift the accessory drive belt from the tensioning pulley. After that, release the bolts or brackets securing the compressor and set the compressor aside. Empty the coolant from the system and take out the upper radiator hose. Untie the electrical connector of the fan inside the radiator shroud and get rid of all securing bolts, taking note that the transmission cooler line slips into the lower right corner of the shroud. When you're done inspecting the radiator, pull out the cooling fan and its cover. After removing the crankshaft damper bolt, place the Three Jaw Puller on Crankshaft Insert 8513 and remove the damper. After that, apply Crankshaft Front Seal Remover 8511 to take out the crankshaft front seal.
