2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an Oil Pan on 2008 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: You should first clean the oil pan gasket surface on the bedplate and on the oil pan, next correct any damage to the integrated oil pan gasket and replace it when needed. Lift up the integrated oil pan gasket/windage tray assembly to fit it at the bottom of the engine. Attach the oil pickup tube afterwards. Mount the carrier and addition the mounting bolt and bolts, tighten the nuts to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). If you take out the screw, install the stud in Area No. 9. After that, carefully slide the oil pan into place and put in each of the mounting bolts and nut, tightening them to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) following the right sequence. Using the special tool 8534, place the engine into the mount and bolt both the left and the right engine mount in place. Tighten the nuts to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) Unhook special tool 8534, install the structural dust cover if present and place in the front crossmember. Put oil in the engine, attach the negative battery cable and turn on the engine to look for leaks.
