  A: Before working on the side impact sensor in a standard cab, first turn off the SRS by disconnecting the black battery negative cable and letting the system capacitor run out for two minutes. Protect the side impact sensor from shocks and drops, because both can result in needing to replace it. Connect the position of the side impact sensor to the retractor hole on the inner B-pillar and attach the body wire harness to the sensor's receptacle. Push your hand through the retractor opening from the door panel to insert the anti-rotation pin into the hole and the stud from the side impact sensor into the matching slot which are found inside the B-pillar. Secure the side impact sensor by installing the nut that holds the sensor stud to the inner B-pillar to a torque of 8 Nm (70 in. lbs.). Fit the front outboard seat belt and retractor into the inside of the B-pillar. Do not attach the negative battery cable back to the car's chassis until the SRS tests are done after repairing or replacing any air bag components.
