2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an Air Bag for Side Curtains on 2008 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Above all, you must turn off the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) by disconnecting and isolating the negative battery cable, followed by waiting 2 minutes while the system's capacitor discharges. Put on rubber gloves, eye protection and a shirt that covers your arms so you don't get hurt by anything left on the air bag unit. Check that the four inner roof rail spring nuts are installed and in good order for standard, six for quad and eight for mega cabs. Placed into the car, make sure the three, four or six push-in fasteners for the side curtain air bag in standard, quad or mega cab match their holes in the drag rail and push them down until they can't be pushed further. Fit four screws on standard cab, five on quad cab or eight on mega cab to hold the air bag against the spring nuts in the inner roof rail at 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.). Ensure you attach and latch the body wire harness connector for the side curtain air bag. Secure both of the plastic retainer clips for the front tether onto the A-pillar and when set, tighten the screw that secures the front tether retainer underneath the A-pillar to 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.). To use a mega cab vehicle, grasp the peel-off tabs and pull them away to insert the rear tether on the inner C-pillar, then secure it with the screw to 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.). Reinstall the headliner into the vehicle and do not attach the battery negative cable until an SRS check is performed after working on any part of the SRS.
