2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Crankshaft Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Extract a Crankshaft on 2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: To take out the crankshaft, unhook the battery and then raise the car on the hoist. Remove all the coolant and oil from the engine and then get rid of both the engine and flywheel. You should then pull the rear main seal, the front cover and the cylinder heads together with the lower and upper oil pans and the windage tray. Take out the oil pump chain and the oil pump and disconnect the timing chain from the crankshaft. Before unscrewing the connecting rod caps, write on each of them with a grease pencil. After marking where the main bearing caps sit, remove them as well as the main bearings and lift the crankshaft out.
