2008 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Clock Spring Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Clock Spring Assembly on 2008 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: Before switching out the Clock Spring Assembly, turn off the supplemental restraint system by disconnecting the battery negative cable, isolating it and giving it at least two minutes to discharge fully. If you buy a Clock Spring replacement, its plastic locking pin is inside and solid, so it should only be moved once you set it on the steering column. Pull the steering wheel to center and secure the lock before beginning your lesson. Slide down the centered Clock Spring on top of the upper steering shaft until the wire connector pins are all engaged. By using the given screws to install and tighten, join the Clock Spring and multi-function switch to the bracket in the steering column. Release the plastic locking pin or tape used to center the Clock Spring and then replace the steering wheel on the steering shaft. Now, secure the negative cable back to its battery connector. Following the installation, press the ignition switch to ON, drive the steering wheel back and forth and use a diagnostic scan tool to find DTCs, as both the SCM and SAS are important parts of the Clock Spring.
