2008 Jeep Commander Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Repair an Automatic Transmission Filter on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: For the fluid filter repair or service, begin by driving the car with an idling engine until the transmission oil temperature goes up. After that, support and lift the vehicle. Get rid of the five bolts and the four retainers that attach the oil pan to the transmission, after which remove the oil pan and gasket. After that, remove the transmission oil filter and o-ring inside the electrohydraulic control unit. Pull out anything inside the oil pan and check the gasket for damage; you may want to buy a fresh one if necessary. Put a new oil filter and o-ring into the electrohydraulic control unit and then attach the oil pan and gasket to the transmission. Use the retainers and bolts to hold the oil pan in place and be sure to torque each bolt to 8 Nm (70 in.lbs.). Lower the vehicle, add 5.0 L (10.6 pts.) of fluid to the transmission and check the oil level.
