2009 Jeep Commander Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Automatic Transmission Filter on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: Before you start servicing or repairing the fluid filter for the automatic transmission, let the transmission's oil heat up by driving with the engine running. After that, hoist and lift the vehicle off the ground. Take out five bolts and four retainers holding the oil pan to the transmission, then remove the pan plus the gasket. After that, remove the transmission oil filter and o-ring from the controller. Wash the inside of the oil pan and if the gasket appears damaged, replace it. Lift in a new oil filter along with an o-ring into the electrohydraulic control unit and then re-fit the gasket and oil pan to the transmission. Bolt and secure the oil pan and then tighten all the nuts to 8 Nm (70 in.lbs.). Once the car is rested on the ground, add 5.0 L (10.6 pts.) of transmission fluid and check the oil level there.
