2008 Jeep Commander Ball Joint Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Front Lower Ball Joint on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: Apply plenty of extreme pressure lubricant to the threads where the tool goes so that it works and lasts properly and safely while being used to install or remove the ball joint. The first step is to use special tools C-4212-F, 9654-1 and 9654-2 to install the ball joint (4) into the control arm (3). Position your chisel about in the middle between each pair of holes and gently tap the chisel with the hammer. After that, remove the support for the halfshaft and mount it where it belongs and then add the clevis bracket to 4X4 vehicles. Following that, attach the steering knuckle and then insert the tie rod end into it. Lift the vehicle, place the halfshaft nut and use a torque wrench to tighten it to 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.). Put in the brake caliper and rotor after that and finish by mounting the tire and wheel assembly on the hub. In addition, examine the vehicle's ride height and have the wheels properly aligned.
