2008 Jeep Commander Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Oxygen Sensor on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: To service and repair the oxygen sensor, the vehicle should first be raised and supported. Remove the wire connector from the O2S sensor without pulling on the wire that goes into the sensor. To remove your O2S sensor use an oxygen sensor removal and installation tool. Make sure to clean the threads in the exhaust pipe with the right tap before installation. You must not apply any grease on the oxygen sensor electrical connector or solder the sensor wiring harness. Furthermore, it is also important to allow the engine to cool down before removing the oxygen sensor since the exhaust manifold, exhaust pipes and catalytic converter get very hot in operation. Looking at the graphic, for vehicles with four O2S, you can check locations of O2S typical and for vehicles with two O2S, look at locations of O2S typical on the same graphic.
