2008 Jeep Commander Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Parking Brake Cable for Front on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: You should start servicing the parking brake cable by disconnecting the car's negative battery cable first. Then, take out the driver's seat, along with the left sill plate and the left-side B-pillar trim panel. Should there be an easy access point, remove the DVD player or the rear console cover and pull out the center console. Afterward, remove the rear seat bottom and unplug all the electrical connectors of the module. Get rid of all the module mounting nuts, both from the bracket and the car's rear sill plates. Lift and roll the rear carpet up, letting you grab the front park brake cable and lock it. Cut the front cable at the equalizer, unbolt the two front cable clamps and three nuts and remove the front cable at the back floor bracket. Lastly, remove the front cable from the hand lever and from the hand lever mounting bracket.
