2008 Jeep Commander Seat Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Seat Motor on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: You should start by removing and disconnecting the negative cable from the battery for the power seat motor repair. Take out the disabled motor and the related seat covering. As the next step, remove both the seat cushion and the pan. For this motor, cut off power to the motor, then unscrew the bolts holding the motor to the seat adjuster, then take the motor out. If the height adjust motor is not working and the power seat is not fully up, take care when unscrewing bolts or nuts to secure the height adjust spring, because this spring could cause the rotor inside the motor to turn with the load. When the height adjust motor is shifted up, get the power seat to its highest point before removing the battery. Once the inoperative motor is off the seat, disconnect the motor electrical wires, take out the fasteners from the motor to the adjuster, remove the parts on the motor shaft and lastly remove the motor from the seat adjuster.
