2008 Jeep Commander Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the Thermostat on a 3.7L or 4.7L Engine on 2008 Jeep Commander?
A: Service on the 3.7L or 4.7L engine by first pulling out the negative battery cable. Pour the coolant into a clean container to keep if it appears clean. Confirm the thermostat you buy is recommended for the car's engine and model. Raise the engine with a hoist and afterwards, remove the underside splash shield. After that, release the clamp from the lower radiator hose and take the hose off the thermostat housing. After that, remove all the bolts that hold the thermostat housing, the housing itself and the thermostat.
