2008 Jeep Liberty A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove an A/C Condenser on 2008 Jeep Liberty?
A: You should start by disconnecting and isolating the negative battery cable to take out the A/C condenser. Pull the refrigerant out of the refrigerant system. Afterward, remove the engine air cleaner housing. Take out the secondary retaining clip using our Special Tool kit 7193 or equivalent, then detach the A/C liquid line from the condenser tube. Take off the grille. If you have an automatic transmission, remove the transmission cooler lines from the area in the A/C condenser that houses them. Pull the condenser air seal to one side to see and unlatch the discharge line fitting and the lower condenser retaining bolt, as you adjust and rotate the discharge line to free it from the condenser. Take out the nut that holds the A/C discharge line to the A/C condenser and cut it away from the system. Take out the two bolts that keep the A/C condenser attached to the radiator's right side. Lift the A/C condenser straight above it to free the brackets holding it to the radiator and pull the condenser out from the vehicle. If required, take the A/C receiver/drier out of the A/C condenser. Take out and throw away the O-ring seals and gasket and then install plugs or tape at the open ends of the refrigerant lines, condenser and receiver/drier ports.
