2008 Jeep Liberty Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Brake Light Switch on 2008 Jeep Liberty?
A: Before you start working on the brake light switch, disconnect and remove the battery negative cable and wait for two minutes to let the system's capacitor drain. Because the plunger is self-adjusting and a one-time feature in the switch, if you take it out, you must also replace it with a new switch. First, take off the plastic cover over the opening in the instrument panel for the steering column. The brake lamp switch is near the support bracket of the lower steering column; unhook the wire harness connector from it. Turn the housing of the brake lamp switch counterclockwise about 30 degrees so that the tabs line up with the locking collar, then pull the switch straight out of the keyed mounting hole in the bracket. Discard the origin brake lamp switch after removing it.
