2008 Jeep Patriot Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How Should You Service and Repair an Air Bag Sensor Safely for Front on 2008 Jeep Patriot?
A: First, turn off the Supplemental Restraint System by unplugging and isolating the battery's negative cable and allowing two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge. Treat the front impact sensor carefully to avoid impacts or drops because any damage calls for replacement and calibration problems may also happen. The process of changing any front impact sensor also applies to side impact sensors. Install the right or left front impact sensor into the engine compartment and link up the wire harness connector from the engine compartment to the sensor's plug at the other end. Put the back of the sensor on the vertical side of either the left or right radiator support, making sure the anti-rotation pin goes into the hole in that part. Connect the sensor securely by fastening and tightening the screw holding it on the back of the vertical support member to 8 Nm (70 in. lbs.) of torque. Before putting in the battery negative cable, complete the SRS verification test that follows any work to an SRS component.
