2008 Jeep Wrangler Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Brake Light Switch on 2008 Jeep Wrangler?
A: First, you must turn off the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) by removing the negative cable from the battery, waiting two minutes and reconnecting it so the system capacitor empties. Begin removal by taking off the panel above the steering wheel. After depressing the brake pedal, turn the brake lamp switch housing counterclockwise by about 30 degrees so that the tabs of the switch locking collar fit into the keyed hole on the brake lamp switch bracket. Twist the keyed handle backward, pull it out and give the brake pedal a light press to make sure it isn't holding you back. Lastly, take out the connector at the brake lamp switch.
