How to Maintain and Fix a Shift Cable on 2008 Jeep Wrangler?

First, move the transmission to PARK and raise the car higher for service. Remove the cable eyelet from the lever inside the transmission and detach the cable from its bracket as the next step. After the vehicle is lowered, remove the console parts needed to reach the shift lever assembly and shift cable. Separate the cable from the shift control lever and then pull out the nails securing the plate that holds the shift seal to the floor pan. Having inserted the end of the cable into the step block, pull the other end through the floor panel hole and release it from the vehicle.
