2009 Chrysler 300 Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Tie Rod End on 2009 Chrysler 300?
A: For rear-wheel-drive vehicles, don't twist the bellows when rotating the inner tie rod during service. After removing the clamp from the inner tie rod, ensure that the bellows moves easily and smoothly before you go further. Slice down the outer tie rod (5) onto the inner tie rod (4) and make sure the number of turns is the same as before. After that, install the outer tie rod end (5) inside the steering knuckle (2) and tighten the nut (1) to 85 Nm (63 ft. lbs.). Then, set up the wheel and tire unit and tighten the wheel nuts to 150 Nm (110 ft. lb.) unless you have a police car, in which case tighten them to 190 Nm (140 ft. lb.). Take the vehicle for a lowering and a wheel alignment, with toe settings being set accordingly. End by tightening the tie rod jam nut (3) up to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.).
