2009 Chrysler Aspen Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Air Bag Sensor Located in the B-Pillar on 2009 Chrysler Aspen?
A: First move the driver or passenger seat all the way forward so you can reach the B-pillar more easily to work on the sensor. First, unplug the negative battery connection and if your vehicle is an HEV, call a professional trained in HEV service safety to remove the high voltage disconnect from the pack. Let the system's capacitors empty for 2 minutes before going forward. Following this, take out the lower trim from the inside of the right or left B-pillar. After that, take out the screw on the side impact sensor and pull the connector off the side impact sensor receptacle on the lower B-pillar. After that, take the sensor off the B-pillar. It matters to not hit or drop the side impact sensor, since doing so can harm it and upset its calibration; if dropped by accident, it needs to be taken out and replaced with another unit for proper activation of the side Supplemental Restraint System components.
