  A: Examine the brake shoe linings before fitting the drum to make sure they are clean, unaltered and in good condition and replace or repair them as is needed. If you find rust or any foreign material on the hub, drum or wheel parts, wet wire brush them before joining them together. Carefully remove any accumulated material around the outer side of the drum's machined braking area. Use a brake shoe gauge to determine the correct brake shoes-to-drum diameter. Put the brake drum (6) into place on the wheel mounting studs (7) of the hub and bearing (7). Install the wheel assembly (1) and apply the same tool to tighten all the wheel mounting nuts (3) to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Reduce the vehicle to the ground and check its behavior during driving, stopping in both directions, so the automatic-adjuster has time to adjust the brakes as required.
