2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Disc Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Front Brake Disc on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before removing the front brake rotor, it is necessary to lift and support the vehicle. After that, unscrew the wheel mounting nuts, then come out the tire and wheel set. You may need to back off the caliper piston slightly to give the pads and rotor room to move which is achieved by drawing the caliper toward the front while you use the guide pins; do not apply strong pressure to the piston as it can cause problems. Subsequently, take out the bolts holding the disc brake caliper adapter to the steering knuckle and get rid of the caliper and adapter together, making sure to hang them nearby with wire or a bungee, so the brake hose doesn't become too stretched. Last, pull out the clips holding the rotor to the wheel studs and move the rotor off the hub and bearing.
