2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Drum Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Prepare for Brake Drum Installation on 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Check the brake shoe linings for signs of wear, bad alignment and dirt before installing the brake drum and resolve or replace them whenever required. If there is rust or other unwanted material on any hub, drum or wheel mating spots, wipe these areas with a wet wire brush and then continue with the assembly. Remove any material that has formed along the border of the machined braking zone. Adjust the brake shoe diameter with the help of a brake shoe gauge. Slide the brake drum (6) onto the wheel mounting studs (7) of the hub and bearing. Install the tire and wheel onto the hub (1) and turn on the wheel mounting nut (3) to a torque of 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Park the vehicle at a relaxed angle and perform a road check, stopping in front and behind, while the automatic-adjuster continues to make changes to the brakes.
