2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely and Effectively Remove a Fuel Rail on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: It is important to cover your body and eyes with protective gear because there is a risk of injury from either touching or inhaling fuel when working with the fuel rail. But start by releasing the pressure from the fuel system first. After you remove the negative battery cable, take out the throttle body inlet hose and the purge hose from the throttle body. After disconnecting power at the throttle, detach the throttle control shield and finally take out the throttle control cables from the bracket around the throttle. Then, unlock and separate the MAP sensor's electrical connector and pull out the two vacuum lines at the rear of the intake manifold. Pull out five front bolts and two back bolts from the intake manifold and extract it, next cover the openings beneath the lower intake manifold. Unplug the coolant system, break the upper radiator hose clamp and detach the thermostat housing's two smaller hoses. Take out the two bolts beneath the thermostat, swivel the assembly to one side, lift up the upper radiator hose and put towels around it to stop any spillage. Break the connection between the fuel line and fuel rail, disconnect both electrical plugs from the fuel injectors and extract the wiring harness from the rail. At the finish, take out the two bolts from the fuel rail and then remove both the fuel rail and injectors from the intake manifold.
