2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser Release Bearing Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Release Bearing on 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: The very first step in clutch release bearing service is to remove the transaxle. The release bearing is built into the Concentric Slave Cylinder for models with the Diesel and Turbo Engine. Raise the lever and bearing assembly in a vertical line, then hold the release lever with both hands in the area of the pivot stud. Pull carefully so that the pivot-stud pops free, since using any tool to lift it may break the lever's spring clip. Take your lever and bearing as one unit, making sure not to cause any harm to the tabs on the bearing. Check the bearing that is already lubricated, making sure it is not sitting in oil or solvent. If the bearing is noisy, has a rough feel or begins to run without oil, replace the entire assembly right away. You should also check the pivot stud spring clips on the clutch release lever's reverse side and replace the lever if they are visibly broken or irregular.
