  A: To work on the vacuum brake booster, first remove the battery's negative cable from its post. Then, remove the bolts or screws that hold the PCM into place and keep the PCM separated. After that, remove the master cylinder and separate the rear brake lines from the junction block. Remember to close off any open brake tubes with plugs. Loose the vacuum hose from the top of the check valve on the power brake booster; do not take out the whole check valve. Open the steering column hole cover and take the stop lamp switch off. Ed Next, place the tip of a small screwdriver under the center of the retaining clip, turn it and the clip will roll over the brake pedal pin. Separate the brake pedal's booster push rod from the pin and then remove all four nuts holding the power brake booster onto the dash panel.
