2009 Dodge Caliber Clutch Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove a Clutch Master Cylinder on 2009 Dodge Caliber?
A: First, use care to avoid any brake fluid reaching painted parts by cleaning away all spills right after they happen. Take out the engine cover and disconnect the battery cable first. After that, open the air cleaner cover and pull off the air intake hose at the back of the engine. Unthread the nut from the upper shock tower, likewise remove the mounting bolt from the lower shock tower and relocate the PCM and bracket somewhere clear. Take out the master cylinder, part from the left front brake tube its clip on the left body rail and detach the rear brake tubes at their junction block before finally placing plugs in all open brake tubes. Unclip the tube bundle routing clip on the left stud of the dash panel, then take out the bolt for the relay bracket on the fuel filter and reposition the relay. Take off the vacuum hose connected to the check valve, but don't remove the check valve itself. Removing the steering column opening cover and the steering column cover reinforcement mounting screws is enough if there's no reinforcement around the steering column. Pull the stop lamp switch straight up and unclip the push rod by turning the retaining clip with a screwdriver. Remove the booster push rod from the brake pedal post and remove the four nuts holding the power brake booster to the dash. Bring the power brake booster forward so its mounting studs are free from the dash and then remove it by opening the engine compartment. Remove the hydraulic line at the clutch master cylinder pressure line connector after pulling the clip and tugging on the tube and seal the tube to stop fluid from leaking. To empty the clutch master cylinder and its tubing, insert a suitable container under the brake master cylinder cap and drain the fluid. In the end, take out the master cylinder pushrod attached to the clutch pedal and turn the master cylinder assembly 1/4 turn clockwise to remove it from its position.
