2009 Dodge Caliber Oil Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace an Oil Filter on 2009 Dodge Caliber?
A: Position your vehicle on a level road after running the engine until it gets to normal operating temperature, then turn off the engine. First, take off the oil fill cap and then lift the vehicle on a hoist. Put a container under the oil pan drain plug (2) and unscrew the plug to allow the oil to drain into the container, checking the threads for any damage; replace the damaged drain plug and its gasket if this is needed. After that, take out the old oil filter (1) and add the new one, using a Mopar(R) or an equivalent filter. After checking the bolts, replace the oil pan drain plug (2) and screw it on until you reach 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Drop the vehicle to the lowest parking spot, pour the designated engine oil into the crankcase and snap the oil fill cap back in place. Look for leaks after turning on the engine and then check the oil when you turn the engine off. Safe disposal of used engine oil is needed because it is hazardous, so make sure to clean any skin that come in contact with the oil after use.
