2009 Dodge Grand Caravan Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace the Molded Plastic Web Stop Button on a Seat Belt on 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: The webbing for every tip half seat belt in the vehicle, except for the third row central belt, has a molded plastic web stop button that ensures the latch plate is held in place and doesn't move to the lower anchor when you're not using the belt. A replacement kit is available that supplies two half plastic buttons: a pointed male half and a female half with a hole which can be used to replace a damaged or separated button. You cannot buy the button halves individually and to replace them, you'll need wheel weight pliers like KD Tools #3358 or Snap-on #WWPR13A, as well as gel adhesive glue such as Mopar Bond-All Gel #04467709. Heavy-duty wheel weight pliers may not close properly, so they should be avoided when you need to replace your weights. Before use, examine all seat belts and parts for harm, changing any that are cut, frayed or do not work and don't try to fix damaged pieces yourself. If the button is missing, use the seat belt webbing to determine its original placements; if it's not there, measure down 4 inches from the lower anchor plate and mark the spot. Latch the latch plate in place above this marking, then stick the male button half's spike through the webbing with its sharp end towards the vehicle's inside. Put a tiny amount of adhesive around the woman's button hole and press it onto the full male button's spike. Flatten the pointed side of the spike on the flat jaw of the wheel weight pliers and then bend it further on the curved jaw until it rests downward on the female button half. Make certain the web stop button is locked in place.
