2009 Dodge Journey Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Rear Brake Caliper on 2009 Dodge Journey?
A: Before changing the rear brake caliper, cut the negative cable from the battery and set it aside. Grab a brake pedal holding tool and press the brake pedal about one inch past its first point so that the master cylinder is cut off from the brake system, making sure no brake fluid gets out. Support the vehicle and take out the three wheel nuts after raising it. Take off the parking brake's tension, put the fingers of the retaining clip into the notch and remove the cable housing from the holder. Loosen the strand in the mounting bracket and gently raise the cable strand, then pull it free from the caliper lever. Detach the banjo bolt joining the brake flex hose to the brake caliper and discard the washers it takes with it which cannot be reused. When you're handling the guide pin bolt, grips the hex-shaped section of the guide pin with a wrench and leave the pin itself steady. After removing the two caliper guide pin bolts, pull the disc brake caliper outward from the disc brake adapter bracket and the brake pads.
