2009 Dodge Viper Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2009 Dodge Viper?
A: Before you start, examine the crankshaft nose for high points and remove them if they are present. Before installing Crankshaft Harmonic Balancer Installer 9943, rub Mopar Nickel Anti-seize Compound on the threads or use a similar product. Secure the crankshaft harmonic balancer by using Crankshaft Harmonic Balancer Installer 9943. After placing the transmission in fourth gear, use the parking brake and stop the wheels. Close the harmonic balancer bolt to 339 Nm (250 ft. lbs.) and fit the crankshaft pulley, setting the crank pulley bolts to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.). Jack the engine down with a floor jack and control the engine mount studs as they go into their places in the frame. Put in the accessory drive belt, checking it aligns correctly with all the pulleys and the entire harmonic balancer is pushed against the crankshaft. Following this, connect the air cleaner housing. Raise the vehicle on a hoist, add the engine mount isolator nut, tighten it throughout to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) and finally bring the vehicle down.
