2008 Dodge Viper Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2008 Dodge Viper?
A: Put a little Mopar Nickel Anti-seize Compound or an alternative on the threads of Crankshaft Harmonic Balancer Installer 9943 before installing the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley. With the installer, set up the harmonic balancer and tighten its bolt to 176 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). Then, install the crankshaft pulley and tighten its bolts to 23 Nm or 200 in. lbs. Allow the engine to gently sit on the floor jack and turn the engine mount studs into the frame openings. After that, install the accessory drive belt and air cleaner housing. Put the car up on a hoist, then mount the engine onto its rubber mounts and tighten them with 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) torque. Finally, adjust the vehicle's suspension to its lowest setting.
