How to Service a Cigarette Lighter on 2009 Jeep Commander?

Before beginning with the 12 V Cigarette Lighter, first turn off the battery's negative cable. Remove the cover from around the small hole or remove the cigar lighter knob from the adaptor connected to your cigarette lighter. Look inside the receptacle base to spot two rectangular bosses that attach the receptacle base to the panel. Use snap ring pliers to help you grab the eyeball retaining bosses of the mount. Squeeze the pliers to release the mount retaining bosses from the receptacle base and move your hand up and down slightly as you pull out the base from the mount. Separate the instrument panel wire harness connector from the receptacle base by pulling the base a little away from the instrument panel. Remove the mount from the instrument panel that holds your cigar lighter.
