2009 Jeep Commander Instrument Cluster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install an Instrument Cluster and Its Related Components on 2009 Jeep Commander?
A: After taking off the load clips from the a-pillars, fasten them to the sides of the instrument panel with screws before installing it. Attach the instrument panel onto the a-pillars of the vehicle, using the load clips provided. After installing all the two bolts on the right, tighten them to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.). Then, instal the fenceline nuts and the defroster grille. Slide the driver's side support studs into the slots on the instrument panel reinforcement and stand the center stack brackets in front of the ducts. Turn the panel to its original position, setting the tube brackets into the radio opening and the HVAC opening and connect the HVAC with the screw on the bottom column of your vehicles. Place the bolt into the HVAC blower motor housing and the screw at the bottom of the housing support in the glove box opening. Snap the lower part of the glove box over the hinges, then push the stop tabs to close the glove box after that. Fit the stabilizer connector on the outside of the compartment and then run the radio antenna cable, the longer-sided wire harness and right side hush panel under the deep trim piece. Put the door seal and cowl trim in their right positions, then what's left is to attach the right door sill trim and right a-pillar trim to the door, securing everything with bolts. At first, close the bolts at the left to 11 Nm (95 in. lbs.). Then, set the end cap for the right side, install the nuts on those bolts above the column and raise the torque to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Zip together the two left bulk connectors, the two fuse block connectors and the white wire with the adjustable brake pedal. Install the grounds into the space in the steering column, attach the bolts and then place the left cowl trim panel and left door sill. Turning the steering wheel more than 90° degrees may harm the Clock Spring, so avoid doing so. Fit and tighten the column cross bolt to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.), place the shaft into the slip joint and with the steering column lifted, attach and tighten the bolts using the same specification. Attach the coupler to the column shaft, add a new coupler bolt and tighten the bolt to 49 Nm (36 ft. lbs.). Connect the electrical side of the multi-function switch, fit the upper and lower shroud pieces to the column, pull the two halves together and secure with three mounting bolts. Attach the cover below the steering column to its hinges and then raise and sit the upper retaining clips into their slots. Place the hush panel, make electrical connections for the column and add the column covers. Put in the left a-pillar trim by fastening with bolts and the door seal, connect the left side end cap and tighten the center support nut onto the stud. Secure the two HVAC bolts in the radio hole and this is followed by the radio and the radio bezel. Put in the left and right center support brackets and nuts. Tighten them to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.), fit the center wire harness and join all the electrical connectors. Place the bezel that holds your radio controls in the dash, attach the lower storage bin screw, adjust the vents for the defroster and install the duct for your air vents in the floor. Attach the shifter to the transmission, reposition the wire harness, attach the hangers, ground everything securely and screw it up. Assemble the electrical connections on the center harness, fit the center floor duct, set the console in position and secure it with screws. First, attach the electrical connector and cover the console, then fit and install the shifter bezel and trim ring.
