How to Service and Repair an Axle Shaft on 2009 Jeep Wrangler?

Before handling the axle shaft, put the transmission in neutral and place the car on a hoist. Start by removing the brake caliper, rotor and the attached adapter. After that, unhook the park brake cable from the support plate and remember to lock the self-adjusting cables before you remove them. Then, take off the brake sensor harness and the sensor from the support plate. After those steps, get rid of the axle retainer plate nuts and, as a unit, pull the axle shaft, the support plate, bearing and seal from the axle tube.
