2009 Jeep Wrangler Starter Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Starter Motor for a 3.8L Engine on 2009 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before doing any service or repair, be sure to cut off and separate the negative battery cable. After that, lift and support the vehicle. Unscrew the two bolts that are keeping the starter motor locked to the transmission as you support the starter motor with one hand. Lower the starter motor so the terminal nut is easy to take off and so the motor is not held only by its cable and wire harness. Then, get rid of the battery cable at the starter and unhook the solenoid wire connector from the starter solenoid and then take out the starter.
