2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an A/C Hose Suction Line on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before installing the A/C suction line, make certain that the refrigerant oil level is set so that the A/C system does not fail and the compressor is protected. When changing more than one air conditioning part, go to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to know how much oil to use. Replacing the O-ring seals on the refrigerant line is necessary when you open it for service to keep leaks from forming. Install the A/C suction line in the engine compartment, then take off any tape or plugs installed over the suction line fitting and accumulator tube tapping block port. Cleanly oil a rubber O-ring seal with the right refrigerant oil and fit it onto the suction line fitting. Feed the A/C suction line into the accumulator tube tapping block, fit the nut on it and tighten it to 20 Nm (180 in. lbs.). Disconnect the tape or plug from both the suction line fitting and the compressor port, slide a new rubber O-ring seal on the suction line fitting and attach the suction line to the compressor. Use the bolt to fasten the line, but make sure you tighten it to 12 Nm (108 in. lbs.). On cars with a 2.4L Turbo engine, install the retaining bracket on the thermostat housing nut with 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.) of torque. After that, put the reservoir, pump and belt back in place. Drain the refrigerant from the system, test the refrigerant oil and add refrigerant as it is needed.
