2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Brake Pad Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Change Rear Brake Pads on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: You should always raise and support your vehicle before removing and replacing the rear brake pads. Remove the nuts that hold the wheel mounting plate and then take out the tire and wheel apartment. There may be times when you need to pull the caliper piston in a little to give space for the pads to clear the rotor and the caliper to be pulled off; just make sure not to press on the piston directly, but grasp the back of the caliper and draw it away, using the guide pins to help. After that, detach the caliper from the adapter by taking out the guide pin bolts, turning the top of the caliper away from the rotor and lifting it above the lower machined abutment on the adapter. Support the brake caliper under the rear strut with wire or cord so you don't damage the brake hose. Use a tool to lift the retaining clip over the raised part of the caliper and then pull the brake pad out. After that, remove the inboard pad by slowly drawing it back from the caliper piston, allowing the spring clip to drop free inside the piston.
