2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace an Intake Manifold on Turbocharged and Naturally Aspirated Engines on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Before taking off and putting on the lower intake manifold, make sure to clean every surface of the gaskets. If your engine is naturally aspirated, replace the seals at the bottom of the manifold; turbo engines need the gasket at the bottom of the manifold to be replaced. Fix the lower intake manifold onto the engine, using the 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) torque onto the set of mounting fasteners. For engines with a turbo, bolt on the lower intake manifold and, when using aluminum, set the bolts to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.), while when using plastic, set them to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Apply fasteners on the lower intake manifold bracket and tighten them to 54 Nm or 40 ft. lbs. for aluminum intakes or 6 Nm or 55 in. lbs. for plastic intakes, if your engine uses a turbocharger. When you've removed the assembly, install it into the intake manifold and tighten screws until you reach 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.), followed by fitting on the fuel injector wiring harness. Inspect the quick connect fittings for problems and swap them if next needed, put a little engine oil on the tube for extra lubrication and link the fuel tubing to the fuel rail by making sure it is tight. Attach the oil dipstick tube screw to the lower intake manifold, then set in the thermostat and mount the coolant outlet connector. Next, put in the radiator upper hose and the upper intake manifold, hook up the negative cable to the battery and put coolant into the cooling system. With the help of the Drbiii(R), use the Asd Fuel System Test feature, where the system is pressurized and any leaks will be shown and the Auto Shutdown relay will remain powered for 7 minutes until the ignition switch is shut off or you select the Stop All Test option. After all your checks, turn the engine on and look for any odd leaks.
