In order to service the upstream oxygen sensor on the 2.4L engine, start by cleaning the exhaust manifold threads with an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap. If the sensor will be reused, put anti-seize compound Loctite(R) 771-64 on its threads; in contrast, new sensors are already coated and do not need extra treatment. Tighten the sensor so that it reaches a torque of 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). After that, join the electrical connector to the sensor and put the negative battery cable back in its place. In the end, fit the air cleaner lid and makeup air hose back on the unit.
