2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Throttle Position Sensor on the Throttle Body on 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: The throttle position sensor is fixed to the side of the throttle body. The side of the throttle body with the throttle shaft is inserted into a socket on the TPS to properly fix the rubber O-ring on the rotor housing's surface. There are two small tabs within the socket made to hold the end of the throttle shaft. With correct indexing, the TPS can move a little to the right to line up with the holes for the mounting screws on the throttle body, feeling a mild tension while rotating. When rotating the TPS proves hard, line up the throttle shaft on the side of the sensor with those tabs on the socket. Attach the mounting screws using a torque of 6.2 Nm or 55 in. lbs. Following installation of the TPS, close the throttle plate; if it is open, install the sensor on the opposite side of the tabs in the hole. Put the connectors on the throttle position sensor, add the negative battery cable and then connect the air cleaner lid and makeup air hose, squeezing the clamp.
