    A: Before you can remove the torque converter, take the transmission and torque converter out from your vehicle. Set up a drain pan beneath the transmission where the converter housing is. Attach the transmission securely to the lifting device or work table, because removing the torque converter will move the center of gravity, making it unstable. Be careful when you're removing the torque converter because it is very heavy. Move the torque converter forward on its bolts until it comes past the oil pump seal and then remove it from the transmission.
