2010 Dodge Caliber Rod Bearing Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Identify and Install Rod Bearings on 2010 Dodge Caliber?
A: Rod bearings come in three sizes and their identification is found at the nose of the crankshaft. Measuring connecting rod bearing clearance should be done using Plastigage and for bearing clearance details consult the instructions for the type of engine. You should replace both the rod bolts when you install your engine. Do not install the new rod bolts until you have oiled both sets of threads and the bolt head. Place every bolt in the cap just so, with enough tightness and then work out the torque for each bolt alternately. Following the 2 step torque-turn method, first turn all bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) and then tighten the connecting rod bolts by 90°. Use a feeler gauge to check the clearance of the connecting rod all the way around, as explained in the manual.
