How to Properly Install and Index Wiper Arms to Pivot Shafts on 2010 Dodge Caliber?

Remember to place the wiper motor into park by turning the ignition on and switching the right multi-function switch to the OFF option before fitting the front wiper arms. When you can't feel the wiper blades shifting, turn the ignition switch off again. The wiper arms need to be lined up to the shafts with the motor turned off to be properly indexed. Make sure the blade sits on the pivot shaft as you place the pivot end of the wiper arm on the line. Moving the wiper arm away from the windshield just a bit helps relieve tension on the spring and then you should push down the pivot end on the pivot shaft in an even motion. Screw on the nut connecting the wiper arm to the pivot shaft until you hit 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.) every 2 turns. Position the wipers when the windshield is wet, switch them off and check the wiper arm placement, making minor adjustments any time necessary. Fit back the plastic nut cap over the wiper arm pivot nut.
